Energy Companies
Energy companies are responsible for providing economical power to
cities and towns and for industrial purposes. They are often given contracts
and subsidized by the state and federal government to provide power
for certain regions. Unfortunately this prevents outside competition
from occurring which can allow a company to raise the cost of power
as they see fit, not necessarily due to increased demand or increased
prices of fuel.
One way to break the monopoly grip that energy companies have over
individual homes and communities is to install solar panels or small
wind turbines on their property. If they are connected back into the
main power grid, which is good for storing the extra energy, the power
company has to pay back the price of the electricity that they charge.
This means an efficient solar array can be a money making opportunity.
Another benefit of converting to solar is that the energy companies
eventually won’t be able to charge as much for power as they do
because more will be created at individual panels. The company won’t
be able to pay everyone producing power the same amount they used to
charge so they will have to lower their price which benefits everyone.
Their role in the future could be simply maintenance and expansion of
the electrical grid and not producing any power at all.
